On the last day of filing his nomination on 5 March, Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The voting for the Rajya Sabha elections will be held on 16 March and the results will be announced the same evening. Nitish Kumar will resign as the Chief Minister after that. The new Chief Minister of the state will be from the BJP. It is equally certain that Nitish Kumar's son is entering politics. There will be two Deputy Chief Ministers in the new NDA government in Bihar and one of them will be Nitish Kumar's son. On the day of filing the nomination, Nitish Kumar's son has accepted the membership of the Janata Dal (United).
