Odisha Braces for Scattered Rainfall, Heavy Downpours Expected in Some Areas

Bhubaneswar : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that most of the places in Odisha will continue to receive scattered rainfall today. According to the weather forecast, a cyclonic circulation is active in the Central Bay of Bengal, and nearby Andhra coastal areas, which will likely trigger rainfall in many places across the state. The regional Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning for Mayurbhanj, warning heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated places of the district today that is on Thursday and tomorrow that is on Friday. A yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for 20 districts of the state. Along with this, rain with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places of the state. The regional Meteorological Centre has also predicted that the heavy rainfall across the state will continue till August 12. Meanwhile, hubaneswar recorded the highest rainfall of 107.9 mm in 24 hours, while Jenapur in Jajpur district recorded 106.8 mm of rainfall. The state has now recorded 25 percent more rainfall than the normal rainfall, while 767.1 mm was recorded from June 1 to August 4.
