The first-ever player’s auction in thePakistan Super Leaguewill be held on February 11 - here’s the latest updates, retention news and all the information you need for the event. For the first time, thePSL has moved from a players’ draft, with the auction set to take place next week. Two new teams, Hyderabad and Sialkot, have been added to the competition, leading to several changes being introduced in the PSL. The two new teams can select up to four players from the pool of cricketers not retained by the six existing teams. The deadline to submit the retentions for the six original sides is February 3, while it is February 6 for the three new sides. Karachi Kings have held on to Hassan Ali, Khushdil Shah, Saad Baig, and Abbas Afridi for the 2026 edition of the PSL. Islamabad have made three retentions: Shadab Khan (Platinum), Salman Irshad (Gold), and Andries Gous. Smith has been signed up by Sialkot Stallionz, with the franchise also bringing in Tim Paine as their head coach. Smith had signed up for the 2019 PSL but was ruled out due to an injury. Each franchise can retain up to four players, not more than one from each category. The categories are Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. All teams have to announce their retentions by February 3, with February 6 being the deadline for the new teams to announce their signings.
