The Chief Minister of the Pakistani province of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, took these revolutionary decisions at a high-level meeting in mid-March in this regard. According to the official resolution taken at the meeting, various famous roads, squares, mohallas and historic government colleges in Lahore are being renamed to restore their original ancient identity. This unexpected move of the Punjab government to revive the areas whose Hindu or Sikh identity was erased during the decades after partition has surprised even the Pakistani media and political analysts. While the famous Jain Chowk of Lahore has been officially renamed as'Islam Chowk '.
