Parliamentary Committee Chairs Reshuffled: Trinamool Congress Gains Two Key Positions

The Department-Related Standing Committees of Parliament were reconstituted on Saturday. Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reshuffled the chairs of various committees. In this reshuffle, the chairpersonship of two important parliamentary committees was lost to the Trinamool Congress. The Commerce Committee has been given to Sudhanshu Trivedi of the BJP, while the Chairman of the Chemicals and Fertilizers Committee, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, has been elected once again as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. Expressing gratitude in this regard, Singh said, "I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Hon'ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla ji on being re-appointed as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence.
