Partha Chatterjee Dropped from TMC List Ahead of Assembly Election

Behala Paschim once meant Partha Chatterjee, the equation seems to have changed in this assembly election. Five-time MLA Partha Chatterjee was dropped from the list by Mamata Banerjee's party All India Trinamool Congress. At the same time, the name of Manik Bhattacharya, accused in the primary education recruitment scam, has also been dropped from the list. He left his job with a multinational company and contested the Behala Paschim election in 2006. He defeated CPM leader Nirmal Mukherjee in the same election in 2011 and won three consecutive elections from the same political party in 2021.
