PM Modi Urges Putin to End Ukraine War During SCO Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the Ukraine war. On 31 August 2026, the two leaders met on the sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. During this time, PM Modi said that every day of the war takes humanity back and the world should move towards ending the war by coming out of the endless war. PM Modi also said that India supports every effort towards peace. He stressed on the resolution of disputes through dialogue and peaceful means. This message is also important because the war between Russia and Ukraine, which started in February 2022, has been going on for more than four years now. During the meeting between PM Modi and President Putin in Bishkek, the two leaders also showed warmth. Both shook hands and hugged. After the meeting, the two leaders left in the same car. However, PM Modi also said that it is important for India to continue its statement on the war in the direction of peace.
