According to the Raj Bhavan order, Prof. Vivek Sharma, Chairman of the Faculty of Management of the University, has been given the additional charge of the Vice-Chancellor. He will conduct the administrative and academic functions of the University until a regular Vice-Chancellor is appointed. The advertisement has been issued by the Governor in exercise of the powers conferred on the Chancellor under the Madhya Pradesh University Act, 1973. The order clarifies that Prof. Sharma will act as acting Chancellor until the appointment of a permanent Vice-Chancellor is made. Prof. S. K. Jain tendered his resignation on 18th June. The Raj Bhavan considered the matter and accepted the resignation the next day. However, no official information has been received so far regarding the reasons for the resignation. After the vacancy of the Vice-Chancellor, the eyes of the University and Higher Education are now set on the appointment of a new permanent Vice-Chancellor. It is believed that Prof. Vivek Sharma will take over the reins of the University till the selection process is complete.
