Punjab Chief Minister Accused of Objectionable Video, Raises Allegations of Political Use of Sikh Institutions

In Punjab, where on the one hand, the Sri Akal Takht Sahib has found Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann guilty of his alleged objectionable video and ordered his social boycott from the Sikh community by calling him "guilty of Guru and anti-panth." On the other hand, Bhagwant Mann has raised the old issue of the political use of Sikh religious institutions. There have already been allegations against the Shiromani Akali Dal that Sikh religious institutions have been used by the party for political purposes. In fact, the appointment and removal of the Akal Takht Jathedar is done by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. The Shiromani Akali Dal has a majority in the SGPC. That is why these allegations are on the Akali Dal that those Jathedars who do not follow the party's orders are removed. Recently, Giani Harpreet Singh and Giani Raghbir Singh have been removed from the post of Jathedar by the SGPC. Bhagwant Mann has alleged the same political use that they have been convicted on the orders of political masters and on these political orders, they are trying to defame the Guru Granth Sahib.
