Punjab Police Commissioner Transfer Sparks Political Controversy

A political controversy has erupted in Punjab over the transfer and non-posting of Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar by the Punjab government. Politics has heated up in the state after the sudden transfer of Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. Former Union Minister of State and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu has raised questions over the transfer of Bhullar and launched a major attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state. Bittu has linked the transfer to the recent protest at Jantar Mantar. In his place, Harmanbir Singh, who was working as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Border Range in Amritsar, has been given additional charge of Amritsar Police Commissioner till further orders. The government has not yet given any reason for the removal of Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. Ravneet Singh Bittu has targeted the Aam Aadmi Party government over the entire matter of the transfer of Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. Bittu has alleged that the Union Home Minister in Delhi was conspiring with the Aam Aadmi Party to defame the Aam Aadmi Party.
