Punjab Political Tensions Rise as MP Raghav Chadha Meets President Murmu

The political situation in Punjab is heating up again in national politics. Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha reached Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday morning and met President Murmu. According to sources, the meeting is to highlight the alleged abuse of administrative power and political vendetta in Punjab. Raghav Chadha has alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government is using the police and administration to target MPs who have joined the opposition camp. It is reported that he, along with three other Rajya Sabha MPs, may submit a written complaint to the President. Chadha, in particular, has alleged that a series of legal actions have been taken against the leaders who have defected are politically motivated. On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is scheduled to meet the President on the same day. He further alleged that the recent defections are'illegal'and a betrayal of the mandate of the people. As of April 2026, a total of seven MPs from the Janata Party are joining the Rajya Sabha. Raghav Chadha alleged that the strength of the Aam Aadmi Party has come down from 3 to 10.
