Vijay Mishra, a resident of Hanumanganj in Kotwali Dehat police station, and former chairman of the cooperative bank, had filed the defamation suit in 2018 after being irked by Rahul Gandhi's remarks against Home Minister Amit Shah. The hearing of the case is pending in the MP-MLA court. Earlier, the court had fixed the proceedings for Rahul Gandhi's personal bond and bail in the case and final arguments. Meanwhile, on March 12, Vijay Mishra had applied for Rahul Gandhi's voice to be examined and matched with the forensic science laboratory. The court had on May 2 dismissed the complainant's plea and issued an order to argue and submit a bail application as per the earlier proceedings, but the complainant BJP leader, instead of arguing in the case, has challenged the magistrate court's order by filing a monitoring petition in the sessions court. After hearing the arguments, the court has reserved the order on the monitoring petition.
