Rahul Gandhi to Make Historic Announcement to Woo Back Dalit Voters to Congress

Lucknow: The bugle for Uttar Pradesh's 2027 assembly elections has already been blown. To woo Dalit voters, who constitute 22 per cent of the state's population, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will attend Kanshi Ram's birth anniversary celebrations at Lucknow's Indira Gandhi Pratishthan tomorrow, March 13. At the event, Rahul Gandhi is likely to make a "historic announcement" to the Dalit community, aimed directly at wooing Dalits back to the Congress fold by taking advantage of the BSP's dwindling base. The Congress believes that it is impossible to reach the throne of power in UP without bringing back Dalits, who were its traditional vote bank before the 1990s. On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party is also trying to consolidate its hold among Dalits by celebrating the day as'PDA Day '. There is a competition between the SP and the Congress to prove the "true interests" of Dalits.
