The dates of the panchayat elections in Rajasthan have been announced. State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh announced the election schedule in a press conference. The panchayat elections in the state will be held in four phases. The polling will be held on 25 October, 31 October, 6 November and 16 November. The nomination process for the elections will begin on 8 October. More than four crore voters will exercise their franchise in these elections. With the announcement of the election dates, the model code of conduct has come into force in the state. Government transfers will also be prohibited. Ministers will not be able to use government vehicles, dak bungalows and circuit houses during their visits to their areas. About 16.9 lakh new Panchayati Raj representatives will be elected in the state through these elections. 272,000 policemen will be deployed for security arrangements during the elections. According to the schedule released by the State Election Commission, the elections to the members of the 41 district councils and panchayat samiti members of the state will be held simultaneously in 4 phases. The voting for these two posts will be done through electronic voting machines. The results of the district council will be announced from 7 am to 7 pm and the results of the district council will be declared by 7 pm.
