Senior BJP leader Ram Madhav has denied a report that his visit to a regional security conference in Colombo was part of Track 2 diplomacy between India and Pakistan. He called it an absurd misquote. The controversy began when a report said that delegations from India and Pakistan, including politicians, retired military officers and diplomats, participated in a Track 2 discussion during a regional security conference organised by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in Colombo. The report said that the discussion was attended by Ram Madhav from India, former army chief General MM Naravane and former Indian diplomat Ruchi Ghanashyam. It also reported that Pakistani delegates included former diplomat Sajjad Haider Khan, former minister Sherry Rehman and retired Major General Isfandiar Ali Khan Pataudi. A user on X shared the report claiming that RSS's Ram Madhav and former army chief Naravane, the British Assistant Secretary for South-American Affairs, were also part of a meeting with Pakistan think-tank Post II, which was held in Colombo.
