Ramayan: A New Cinematic Experience Preserving the Soul of the Epic

There are some stories that need no introduction. Their characters, their dialogues and the emotions associated with them have been part of people's memories for generations. But when the responsibility of retelling such a story is taken up, the challenge is not just to make it grand, but to create a new cinematic experience while preserving its soul. Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan meets this challenge. The film tries to present a familiar epic on a new scale, modern technology and a wide canvas of emotions. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, the film is not just a series of mythological episodes, but a story of power, ambition, love, sacrifice, duty and religion. The first half of the film transports the audience to a world where the power of Lanka is expanding, while the foundation of Maryada Purushottam Ram's life in Ayodhya is being prepared. The story of Ramayan is based on Valmiki's story of the rise of the Asuras and the defeat of the Asuras.
