Ranchi Protest Reflects Public Anger and Political Participation

The crowd in Ranchi is much smaller than the one that had gathered at Jantar Mantar the previous day. But numbers alone do not tell the whole story of a protest. Its mood, its spirit, and the sense of betrayal behind it often matter more. In this sense, what is happening at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium is eerily reminiscent of Jantar Mantar. Like Jantar Mantar, this movement stands at the crossroads of public anger, political participation, and silent support. Like Jantar Mantar, there is a clear political undercurrent. Political faces and supporters are present. Political parties and activists are visible, as is natural in any large mass movement.
