Rapper Mayor Balen Shah Sworn in as Nepal's Prime Minister

Kathmandu: Nepal's political landscape has witnessed an event that even the most seasoned political analysts could not have imagined. Balen Shah, the popular mayor of Kathmandu and a well-known rapper, has stunned the world by being sworn in as Nepal's prime minister on March 27, 2026. The most special thing about his victory is that he spoke for only 26 minutes during the entire election campaign instead of giving long and boring speeches like traditional leaders. From Jhapa in the east to Dhangadhi in the west, he won the hearts of the people by holding only 4 to 5 public meetings and led his party, the Rastriya Swatantrata Party (RSP), to the pinnacle of power with 52 lakh votes. Balen Shah's campaign style was so unique that he never directly begged for votes. Using Maithili in Janakpur and Doteli in western Nepal, he struck an emotional chord with the local people.
