RJD MP Questions Government's GDP Growth Figure, Calls for Constitutional Perspective

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Kumar Jha has hit out at the government over the country's GDP growth figure of 7.8%. He said that the picture is not entirely clear from the economic growth figures alone, but it is important to see how much its benefits are reaching the poor, lower income groups and the middle class. Jha said that the GDP figures should be evaluated in the context of the provisions of Article 39 of the Constitution. He said that it is important to see whether the benefits of economic growth are reaching all sections of the society. According to him, the real picture of the growth figures will be revealed only after looking at them from a constitutional perspective. The RJD MP also raised the issue of price rise of daily necessities. He said that the economic situation cannot be assessed on the basis of GDP figures alone if the prices of these things are increasing. He specifically mentioned the surge in sugar prices during a month.
