Rohit Pawar's Hunger Strike Demands Debt Waiver for Farmers Without Conditions

Rohit Pawar started this hunger strike on Friday. He is an MLA from Karjat-Jamkhed. He wants the entire debt of farmers to be waived without any conditions. The state government has recently announced the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karj-Mukti Yojana. The government claims that Rs 36,585 crore will be spent on it. This is expected to provide relief to about 56 lakh farmers. The scheme has options like loan waiver and OTS, but the truth is something else. The advertiser-turned-Pawar has questioned two conditions that are suffocating the farmers. The first condition is for the farmers who took advantage of the 2019 loan waiver scheme. The government has made a rule that they will now get relief only up to Rs 50,000. The second condition is even more difficult. The government has said that if the farmer wants the incentive subsidy, he will have to pay ID1 and ID2 at the time of the loan. How can Rohit Pawar convince the farmer that he should repay the debt that he has been promised?
