Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat recently made a statement on Hindu-Muslim. The opposition criticised him. There has been a mixed reaction from Muslim leaders. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at Bhagwat. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, on the other hand, praised Bhagwat and said he agreed with his statement. Owaisi said, "This is an old trick of the RSS: some things happen to the world and some to its own members. The RSS has never disassociated itself from the views of its prominent thinkers and writers. What do they say about Muslims and other minorities?" Owaisi alleged that the RSS opposes democracy and has been constantly demanding dictatorship. He said, "For the RSS, Indian Muslims and Christians are the'internal threats'of number one and number two respectively." Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, chief of the All India Imam Organisation, said, "I support Mohan Bhagwat's statement and he has always agreed with my statement about the unity of the people of India."
