Russia Seeks Indian Mediation Amid Global Turmoil and Energy Crisis

New Delhi: Global politics is in turmoil. On the one hand, the US and Israel have collapsed on Iran, on the other hand, crude oil prices have crossed $115 due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Amid this energy crisis, Russia is attaching great importance to PM Modi's visit to Moscow. Russia knows that India is the only country that has strong relations with all the four opposite poles - Israel, America, Russia and Iran. Putin wants India to mediate through the BRICS platform, so as to prevent the growing dominance of Western countries and diplomatic solutions to the attacks on Iran. India's'multi-alignment'policy is now being put to the test. PM Modi recently held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. On the other hand, at the height of his visit to Israel, Russia is pushing for a new defence relationship. India is not only a strategic partner but also a strategic partner.
