Samajwadi Party Break-Up Speculations Spark Debate in Indian Politics

Speculations are rife in Uttar Pradesh politics these days about a possible break-up in the Samajwadi Party. Minister in the Yogi Adityanath government Om Prakash Rajbhar and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's frequent statements have sparked a fresh debate in political circles. Both leaders claim that many Samajwadi Party MPs and leaders may leave the party. However, given the current political situation and parliamentary arithmetic, the possibility of a major break-up in the SP seems remote at the moment. In fact, such claims are also being made about the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh amid talks of discontent and break-ups within Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal. But political experts believe that the SP's position is quite different from these parties. Minister in the Yogi Adityanath government Om Prakash Rajbhar on Wednesday claimed that a major break-up is soon to take place in the Samajwadi Party. He also said that SP national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah informing him that all the MPs who have joined the party will be rebelling in the SP.
