(By Iqbal Gori) Savarkundla, તા.23: Small-time, cabbie and lorry-owning traders, who have been working on the banks of the Navli river in Savarkundla city for years, have taken an important decision to protest against the local municipality and the BJP regime. There is a lot of resentment among the traders as their jobs are threatened due to the ongoing riverfront project on the Navli river. Amid this situation, the traders have decided to close their businesses spontaneously after noon for five consecutive days from April to April 26, i.e. till the day of polling. The traders have given open support to the Congress party led by Hasubhai Ishkar, the president of Savarkundla City Congress Committee. It remains to be seen what effect this movement and political support of the traders will have on the outcome of the elections.
