Savita Punia Becomes Player with Most International Caps in Indian Women's Hockey History

Indian women's hockey legend Savita Punia created history on Monday as she became the player with the most international caps in the history of Indian women's hockey. Savita surpassed former Indian striker Vandana Katariya's record of 320 senior international caps. She achieved the feat in a Pool B match against Indonesia at the Asian Games 2026. A day earlier, Savita had equalled Vandana's record in India's 19-0 win against Uzbekistan. On her achievement, Hockey India announced a cash award of ₹10 lakh to her.
