Sheikh Hasina Announces Return to Bangladesh Amid Death Sentence

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced that she will return to her country. She said that she will go back around December-2026 and surrender to the court. Although this is the first time that she has given the time of returning to Dhaka. In a telephone interview with news agency Reuters, Sheikh Hasina said that she knows the danger to her life, but also knows that now the time has come to return to her country. She said,'They can arrest me as soon as I return, they can even kill me. I must go.'Let us tell you that a tribunal in Bangladesh has sentenced Sheikh Hasina to death. Despite this, she said that if she dies, it will be on the soil of her country, where her parents are buried. She said that my party leaders and activists are facing severe torture. If death comes, I want her to come to my land, where my mother and father's blood flowed. Sheikh Hasina fled to India after the anti-war student movement of Bangladesh.
