Sheikh Hasina Refuses to Back Down from Return to Bangladesh, Vows to Return Home by December

Bangladesh's former prime minister Sheikh Hasina has said she is willing to go to jail but will not back down from her intention to return by December. She dismissed her death sentence in Bangladesh as politically motivated and expressed a desire to play a key role in resurrecting the Awami League. She said the full plan of how she will return home is yet to be decided. According to an NDTV report, Hasina said, "I have made a solemn promise to return to my homeland by December 2026. I firmly believe that I have the right to return to my country and no law of Bangladesh can properly prevent me from doing so. She said she wants her return to take place peacefully and within the law. She said," Today, I openly say, I want to return to my motherland and to my people. The question is not whether I will return, but how will I continue to return to our country so that Sheikh Hasina's citizens can tell her of her death sentence in November 2025. "
