Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday urged the breakaway parties of the Congress to regroup and said that the Congress needs to be strengthened to fight the BJP. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had recently remarked that "Congress is a sinking ship." Dismissing this, Sanjay Raut said that the Congress party still remains an important political force. Sanjay Raut told reporters, "Even today Prime Minister Narendra Modi is afraid of the Congress. Congress has never been a sinking ship." Calling for opposition unity, the Rajya Sabha MP appealed to NCP president Sharad Pawar to lead efforts to bring old allies and leaders of the Congress on one platform. Raut said, "If we really want to fight against the perverted politics of the BJP, then everyone has to be united. The Congress party should be strong." Sanjay Raut further said, "All the leaders who have left the Congress should come together.
