Supriya Sule Demands Inquiry into Eviction of MP Mahua Moitra from Government Guesthouse

In her letter, Supriya Sule said that the timing and manner in which Mahua Moitra was allegedly asked to vacate the Circuit House raises serious questions about the administrative action. She said that the sudden and allegedly arbitrary action with a sitting MP raises concerns about her physical safety. Sule called it a worrying precedent for the future as well. She requested the Lok Sabha Speaker to intervene and ensure full and adequate security to Mahua Moitra. She demanded that the authorities take necessary steps to prevent the recurrence of any such incident or alleged intimidation. She said that inconveniencing, intimidating, or putting an MP in a potentially unsafe position while discharging his public and parliamentary responsibilities is against the dignity of Parliament and the privileges accorded to MPs. Supriya Sule requested a formal inquiry into the matter and refer it to the Privileges Committee. She said that the officers whose role, after investigation, is found to be improper, should ensure that the state administration does not face any administrative action or instructions to ensure that the MP does not face any public harassment or encroachment while discharging her public and parliamentary duties.
