Surat Police has arrested a notorious thief from Neol checkpost who targeted locked houses in posh areas of Mumbai. The accused was going to visit Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan by public transport with stolen goods. During this time, police suspected him in vehicle checking and after searching, stolen goods worth more than ₹3 lakh were recovered from him. In fact, a team of police from Saroli police station was checking vehicles at Neol checkpost on Surat-Bardoli road. Meanwhile, police head constable Himmatbhai Mavjibhai and constable Manishbhai Vithalbhai got information that a thief from Mumbai was going to pass by public transport with stolen goods. Based on the information, police increased surveillance. After some time, police surrounded a suspect coming on foot from Antroli village. The bag he was carrying was searched and a large amount of goods, including gold ornaments, were found. According to the police, the total value of the stolen goods, including gold jewellery, was ₹6,690 lakh, while the value of the gold, according to the police, was stated to be ₹2,40,000.
