Tamil Nadu Assembly Sees Chaotic Scenes Over CM's Corruption Allegations

The Tamil Nadu Assembly on Tuesday witnessed uproarious scenes over Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's statements alleging corruption under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) and involving the former DMK government. DMK MLAs, the main opposition party, first protested and later sat on a dharna outside the Speaker's chamber, demanding that the CM's statement be expunged from the Assembly records. DMK MLAs, also inside the House, surrounded the Speaker's podium shouting slogans. As the situation deteriorated, Speaker JCD Prabhakar directed Assembly marshals and watch and ward staff to evict the DMK MLAs from the House.
