Tamil Nadu Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin Released After Controversial Remarks on Actress Trisha

Chennai was rocked on Tuesday (August 4, 2026) morning when the Tamil Nadu police detained Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin from his home. But now the police have released him. The entire action comes after his controversial statement about actress Trisha. On Monday, Udhayanidhi's remarks during a rally were strongly objected to by the ruling TVK, after which it became a big political controversy. He was seen smiling when the police were taking Udhayanidhi with them. Speaking to the media, he called the arrest a'joke'and said that he would fight it legally. On the other hand, his party DMK has called the arrest an act of political vendetta. DMK leader TKS Elangovan defended the party, saying that Udhayanidhi had not said anything objectionable against anyone. He had simply failed to count the victories of the Chief Minister. Udhayanidhi had not said anything derogatory in his speech and had not even mentioned Trisha's name in his statement.
