Tamil Nadu Opposition Leader Arrested Amidst Chaos and Court Order

The state has witnessed high drama after the arrest of the leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu assembly and DMK MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday (August 4, 2026). In fact, after the arrest of Udhayanidhi Stalin, the police were taking him to the Thanjavur South police station for questioning on the order of the Madras High Court, but a huge crowd of DMK and Udhayanidhi's supporters gathered outside the police station, creating an atmosphere of panic at the spot. In such a big step, the police changed the place of questioning of DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin from Thanjavur South police station to Sengipatti police station, about 21 kilometers away, but after taking him to Sengipatti police station instead of Thanjavur South police station, DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin refused to get out of the police van. He argued behind it that Sengipatti is not the police station that was mentioned in front of the court. On the one hand, after the Madras High Court order, a large number of supporters of DMK and Udhayanidhi Stalin are gathering in the police station on Tuesday (July 4).
