Tamil Nadu Political Crisis Deepens as TVK Faces Obstacles in Forming Government

Chennai: Tamil Nadu is in the throes of an unprecedented and extremely serious political crisis over government formation after the Assembly election results. Actor Vijay's party TVK, which emerged as the single largest party, is now in a state of crossfire. Despite TVK emerging as the single largest party with 108 seats in the elections, Governor આર.વી. Arlekar's apparent refusal to allow him to prove his majority has caused a political earthquake. There is widespread resentment among TVK supporters and leaders, with the Governor insisting on the support of 118 MLAs. TVK is currently at 113 with the support of 5 Congress MLAs. Amid this situation, talks of an unnatural alliance between DMK and AIADMK have heated up. Actor Vijay has issued an open and stern warning that if these two parties try to grab power in collusion, all their 108 MLAs will resign en masse and trigger a constitutional crisis in the state. In addition, Vijay's leaders like Kamal Haasan and Kamal Haasan are all set to take the legal battle to the Supreme Court.
