Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister Vijay Proves Majority, Takes Swift Action and Supports Local Film Industry

Tamil Nadu's new Chief Minister Vijay on Wednesday proved his majority on the floor of the House with 144 MLAs voting in his favour. Meanwhile, he has started working fast as soon as he took oath as the Chief Minister. While actors like Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan and Vishal hailed the order to shut down 717 liquor shops in the state on Tuesday, Thalapathy Vijay has given another special permission for his good friend Trisha Krishnan. Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy, however, has taken this decision in favour of the Tamil film industry, but it is going to benefit Trisha's next film Karuppu. Vijay has given'special permission'for the 9 am show of director RJ Balaji's action film Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha in the lead roles. Karuppu is releasing in theatres this Thursday, May 14, 2026. It is a Tamil action drama. On Tuesday evening, producers of the film and producer Prabhu Prakash Babu wrote'Thank you, Chief Minister'while sharing a picture of'SR Karuppu'working with SR Vijay's production company SR Karuppu.
