Three members of a family were injured after a high-speed Mercedes rammed into vehicles inside the Coastal Road tunnel in South Mumbai on Sunday morning. A Mercedes-Benz, allegedly being driven by a 17-year-old boy, lost control while speeding through the Coastal Road tunnel towards South Mumbai and rear-ended an SUV, which collided with another car ahead. Three people in the SUV, including an elderly woman, sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital. Mercedes Belonged To Businessman Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter. Upon enquiry, it was learnt that the Mercedes belonged to a businessman from Agripada. According to the police, the businessman’s 18-year-old granddaughter took the car and asked her 17-year-old friend to drive, despite him being a minor. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against the car owner, his granddaughter, and the teen, who was reportedly driving the car, under sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and charges of rash and negligent driving. Further probe is underway into the matter.
