Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Calls for Special Assembly Session to Demand Lower Election Age Limit

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy addressed a candlelight rally on Saturday (July 25, 2026) over the NEET paper leak case. He also claimed that the Gen-Z movement defeated the 56-inch chest and forced Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to step down from his post. At the same time, CM Revanth Reddy also stressed on increasing the participation of Gen-Z in Parliament. He said that the state government will soon convene a special session of the assembly. A resolution will be passed in this session demanding the central government to reduce the minimum age for contesting Lok Sabha and assembly elections to 21 years. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said, "We will call a special session of the assembly and legislative council in the first week of August. We will participate in the assembly and pass a resolution to raise the minimum age for contesting elections as MLA and MP to 21 years and send it to the prime minister." He said, "Youth represent 30% of the country's population, but if they become a minister, they are less than 21 years old."
