The elections to the legislative council teachers'and graduates'seats have put the NDA in a tight spot. The first tension was over the results, when the JD (U) lost three of the four seats in its quota. However, tensions have been growing since the attempt to induct two independent legislators - Vanshidhar Brajwasi and Rahul Raj - into the BJP. However, due to legal hurdles, the two independents have not been able to formally join the BJP. Now they are saying that they support the BJP. Senior BJP leader and MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy opened a separate front by saying that the BJP leadership does not have the ability to remove a Rajput from the electoral fray at their behest. He said, "Why do you think that today the BJP is giving so much importance to a Rajput leader that people will accept his words. There is no Rajput leader in the state, on whose behest the people of this caste vote for a party." Rudy's comment came from the defeated JD (U) teacher-turned-politician Rajeev Anand Pushkar.
