Tensions Rise Within Grand Alliance in Bihar Ahead of Legislative Council Elections

Ahead of the elections to 8 seats of the Bihar Legislative Council, friction has increased between the Grand Alliance constituents. RJD and Congress have fielded separate candidates. RJD general secretary Ranvijay Sahu appealed to the Congress to withdraw the names of its four candidates where the two parties are facing off. He warned that if this does not happen, the two parties will have to decide on the alliance. RJD has fielded candidates on 6 out of 8 seats and left two seats for allies. He appealed to the Congress to withdraw its candidates. He also appealed to Rahul Gandhi to talk to Bihar Congress leaders. On growing differences within the Grand Alliance, Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi said that the alliance is broken and fragmented. He claimed that the NDA is united. According to Saraogi, the NDA and the BJP-JDU have won four seats each. Senior state party secretary Naresh Pandey said that the CPI is preparing to win four seats.
