Thalapathy Vijay's Political Entry Creates Buzz in Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

Tamil Nadu is going to assembly elections this year and superstar Thalapathy Vijay's entry into the political arena has created a buzz. Actor-turned-politician Vijay has opened a can of worms for his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), which is directly involved with the needs of the common people. From cash assistance to gold to new brides every month for women, Vijay has made several announcements that are bound to worry the major parties in the state. Vijay's announcements come just a day before International Women's Day on March 8, which is being seen as his big poll bet for women. Women will get Rs 2,500 every month. Vijay has placed the biggest bet on the women's vote bank. He promised that if his party comes to power, women under the age of 60 will be given direct financial assistance of Rs 2,500 every month. This amount, however, is more than the existing promises of the Tamil Nadu government and other opposition parties.
