Three Former TMC MPs Join BJP Ahead of Rajya Sabha Elections

Ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections, three former Bengal TMC MPs have joined the BJP. Sushmita Dev, Sukhendu Sheikh Roy and Prakash Barik have joined the BJP. Senior BJP leader Shamik Bhattacharya has officially announced the joining of the three leaders. The BJP can send the three to the Rajya Sabha for the remaining term. 14 July 2026 is the last day of nomination. Shamik Bhattacharya said, "The politics that was going on in West Bengal for the last 50 years. First 34 years were ruled by the Left Front and then by the TMC. Development had come to a standstill here. In such an atmosphere, three MPs of the Rajya Sabha of India had resigned from the TMC earlier out of faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today all three of them Sushmita Dev, Sukhendu Sheikh Roy and Prakash Barik have joined the BJP." He said, "During the last 15 years, the entire democratic system in West Bengal has been demolished. This time 90 percent of the people voted in Bengal. Modi-Modi, these three leaders of the new generation have said that the whole country will have to join the new generation.
