A TMC councillor from Cooch Behar has been arrested for allegedly manhandling Rathindra Bose ahead of the assembly polls. Police have arrested Trinamool councillor from ward number two of Cooch Behar municipality, Ujjwal Tare. Rathindra Bose went to meet a BJP worker in ward number two as a candidate the night before the election. The TMC councillor led a protest around the sitting speaker. The councillor has been arrested in connection with the incident. Though the arrest has been claimed to be a vendetta politics by the TMC. Rathindra had gone to ward number 2 of Cooch Behar ahead of the first phase of the election. The TMC candidate had come to distribute money. The TMC councillor then led a protest around the sitting MLA, Ujjal Tare. However, the BJP claimed that he had gone to visit an ailing BJP worker. There were no reports of the TMC leader harassing the MLA for money or campaigning. According to police sources, he was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the TMC leader a few days ago.
