A 10-member delegation of the rebel faction of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) met Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Thursday. After the meeting, the leader of the rebel faction Ritabrata Banerjee said - We are the real TMC, the Election Commission listened to us. Hopefully, they will take a decision soon. It was under the leadership of the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Ritabrata Banerjee that a representative meeting was held in Kolkata on 22 June. A new president, vice-president and a 30-member national executive were formed. Fifty-eight MLAs formed a separate faction 29 days ago. On 3 June, 58 of the 80 TMC MLAs broke away from Mamata Banerjee's leadership after the defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections. Also on 15 June, 20 TMC MPs left the party and merged with the Nationalist Citizens Party of Tripura (NCPI). On 20 June 2022, Eknath Shinde, along with 40 of the 55 MLAs of the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, resigned. Uddhav Shinde, who was then the CM of the BJP, was stopped by the Governor from the floor test of the Supreme Court.
