West Bengal Elections 2026 Before the counting of votes begins in West Bengal, electoral politics has once again reached the doors of the Supreme Court. The voting is over, and the results are awaited. However, even before its announcement, questions have been raised about the rules. The directives issued regarding the counting of votes in West Bengal were now challenged before the Supreme Court of the country. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) challenged the decision of the Election Commission (EC) to appoint central government employees as counting observers and assistants. The hearing began today in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court said that there is no need for any order. The Election Commission has not done anything wrong. It has the right to elect a counting supervisor. The court has refused to interfere. Ahead of the counting of votes for the 294-member West Bengal assembly on May 4, the TMC has received a setback from the Supreme Court. On Saturday, the court heard the petition filed by the TMC challenging the order issued by the Calcutta High Court.
