KOLKATA: The Trinamool Congress has hit out at the Election Commission for not taking cognisance of its notice to remove the Chief Election Commissioner so far. The party has said it will raise the issue prominently in Parliament on Monday. According to senior Trinamool leader Derek O'Brien, the Opposition's notice is completely in line with the rules and ignoring it is a disrespect to the rights of MPs. He said the silence pact between the executive and the Election Commissioner will be questioned if the government does not act on the charges. The 10-page notice, signed by 193 MPs of the opposition, makes seven serious allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. These include alleged partisan and discriminatory conduct while in office, obstruction of the investigation of electoral fraud, and massive disenfranchisement of the ruling electorate. The opposition parties have also alleged that the BJP was favoured during some of the procedures. What is the rule?
