Trinamool Congress Leader Ashish Banerjee Found Dead in Party Office

The death of senior Trinamool Congress leader and former MLA Ashish Banerjee in Rampurhat, Birbhum district, West Bengal, has caused a stir. His body was found hanging in the party office located near his house on Sunday (16 August 2026) morning. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and have started investigating the matter. According to the police, the body of Ashish Banerjee was found in the TMC office located near his house in the Hattalapara area of Rampurhat. A large number of party workers and locals gathered outside the office as soon as the news of the incident was received. Police have started investigating the scene. The exact cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report and investigation is completed. Police have also found a one-page alleged suicide note near the body of Ashish Banerjee. The matter has also taken a political turn after this note came to light. However, the authenticity of the note and the TMC's words written in it can be confirmed only after the police investigation. According to the police, Ashish Banerjee's death note states that no political leader has forgotten his life.
