Khokan Das, a well-known name in West Bengal politics, has been arrested from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. A team of West Bengal Police with the help of Handia police station police of Prayagraj arrested him on Saturday from Handia toll plaza. Khokan Das is a former MLA of Trinamool Congress from Bardhaman Dakshin assembly seat of West Bengal. He was elected MLA from this seat in 2021, but faced defeat in the 2026 assembly elections. West Bengal Police has registered a case against him under extortion, intimidation and other serious sections. According to Prayagraj Police, Bengal Police had received information that Khokan Das was hiding in Prayagraj area. His team with the help of Handia police station police caught him at Handia toll. DCP Ganganagar Zone Kuldeep Singh Gunawat has confirmed the arrest. West Bengal Police will try to get him remanded today by producing him before the Demand Magistrate, after which he will be taken to Kolkata. Khokan Das is a Trinamool Congress leader and has been playing an active role in the Prayagraj district-level post-polls. West Bengal Police is also investigating his arrest.
