The Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly will be held from March 13 to March 25, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath said on Friday. Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) at the Assembly, Nath said the session has been convened by Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu . The session will begin on March 13 with the Governor’s address to the House. On the opening day, members will also pay tributes to former Assembly Speaker Bishwabandhu Sen, who passed away recently, after which the House will be adjourned for the day. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will present the state Budget for the financial year 2026–27 in the Assembly on March 16. On the same day, he will also table the revised estimates for the financial year 2025–26. “Following the presentation of the Budget, the finance minister will deliver the Budget speech in the House,” Nath said. According to the schedule finalised by the BAC, three important bills will be introduced in the Assembly on the day following the Budget presentation. These include the Tripura University of Health Sciences Bill, aimed at establishing a medical university in the state, the Technical University Bill and the Women’s University Bill. Nath said the discussion on the Governor’s address will begin on the third day of the session and will continue for two days. The Leader of the Opposition will participate in the debate on the Budget on March 19, he added. Detailed discussions on the Budget are scheduled to take place on March 20, 23 and 24. “The Budget will be taken up for passage on the final day of the session, March 25, after completion of the discussions,” Nath said. He added that a total of nine sitting days have been scheduled during the session to deliberate on key legislative and policy matters. “The schedule has been finalised with the consent of all members of the Business Advisory Committee,” Nath added.
