Trump Administration Faces Increased Scrutiny as Democrats Gain Control of Senate Committees

Opposition control of Senate committees can increase scrutiny of Trump administration decisions. Democratic lawmakers can hold hearings and investigations on these issues: The Trump administration will not be able to easily pass its new laws and policies through Congress. Trump will need to side with the opposition on proposals related to taxes, immigration, trade, and government spending. Democrats can impeach Trump if he loses his majority in the Senate. Democrats, however, need a two-thirds majority to impeach. Under the US Constitution, the president nominates Supreme Court justices, federal court judges, ambassadors, and many senior government officials, but their appointments require Senate approval. If Democrats gain a majority in the Senate, they can block Trump's nominees. They can delay the appointments of senior administration officials. If Trump loses the majority, they may have to cut funding for Iran and the Iran war.
