Trump Creates 'Naughty or Nice' List Among NATO Allies, Raising Tensions

US President Donald Trump has created a new furore among NATO allies. The Trump administration has created a'Naughty or Nice'list, which groups NATO countries by their role in the ongoing war with Iran and defense spending. The list is intended to directly reward or punish countries that have supported or distanced themselves from Washington's military operations. Politico reports that the list was created just before NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's visit to Washington. The idea is believed to be behind Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who had already indicated that'ideal allies'would receive special concessions from the United States, while countries that fail in collective defense would face severe consequences. As a punishment, the United States could remove its troops from these countries or prohibit the sale of American defense technology to them. Countries such as Romania and Poland, however, "cannot be confirmed" by the White House to have a "good" share of the list.
